Who We Are

The Society for Worldwide Medical Exchange (SWME) is an international non-profit organization uniting doctors around the world to advance global health through medical education. Recognizing health as a fundamental human right, we work to strengthen health care delivery in developing communities by breaking down barriers to quality medical education.

We believe that if we take action as a united global medical community, together we can fight diseases, develop cures and save lives.

What We Do at a Glance

To protect and enhance the lives of their patients, a doctor’s educational development should never end. SWME contributes to a global health agenda through comprehensive educational programs that give qualified doctors around the world the tools they need to address critical health care challenges in their communities.

1. Doctor Sponsorship
   Due to their lack of funding, many doctors and other medical professionals from developing countries do not have the same access to quality medical education courses as their counterparts in the U.S. and Europe. SWME sponsors doctors who demonstrate outstanding commitment to strengthening health care delivery in their local communities to attend capacity building medical activities.

2. CPD Worldwide
   Continuing Professional Development (CPD), commonly known as Continuing Medical Education (CME), beyond the level of secondary education has facilitated advancements in research, the development of lifesaving treatments and the improvement of healthcare systems worldwide. SWME develops global CPD activities in partnership with leading medical associations that are open to all doctors around the world.

3. Society Membership
   SWME also serves medical professionals by uniting them through society membership. Our membership is free and open to medical professionals and medical industry professionals interested in taking action to advance global health. By signing up with the SWME, via our online Membership Application, members have the opportunity to apply for sponsorship, recommend doctors for sponsorship, and learn more about our CPD activities and ways to partner with SWME. Through our membership, we hope to engage medical leaders and experts with the ability to dramatically impact global health by sharing their coveted knowledge with those who need it the most.
